Dr. Ruairi Robertson is a Lecturer in Microbiome Science in the Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London. He previously obtained a B.Sc in Human Nutrition from University College Dublin and a Ph.D from University College Cork followed by postdoctoral research positions in the Blizard Institute, University of British Columbia and the Institut Pasteur.
His research examines the composition and function of the gut microbiome in early life and in pregnancy. His research primarily focusses on child undernutrition using large birth cohorts to study the effects of birth outcomes, nutritional and pharmacological interventions on gut microbiome maturation.
Dr. Robertson regularly speaks at festivals and on media about nutrition and the gut microbiome and hosts his own podcast (Biomes) in which he speaks with microbiome scientists about their research.
